Manchester City look to stay on top of the Premier League in a home clash against Brentford at Etihad Stadium.
Victory will see City stay top unless Liverpool better their result elsewhere, whilst Brentford can go third if Brighton lose elsewhere.
Team News
Nathan Ake is ruled out for Man City after he suffered a serious muscle injury whilst on international duty for Netherlands.
Erling Haaland (personal), Phil Foden (illness) and Savinho (knee) could be available, but Oscar Bobb (leg) remains ruled out.
Brentford will be without Gustavo Nunes and Mathias Jensen due to respective back and calf injuries.
Rico Henry (knee), Josh Dasilva, Igor Thiago (both knee) and Aaron Hickey (hamstring) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Man City host Brentford at Etihad Stadium in a 3pm BST kick-off on Saturday 14 September, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Man City have won four of their six previous Premier League meetings against Brentford (W4, L2).
- Brentford have won one of three previous Premier League trips to Man City (W1, L2).
- City’s Erling Haaland has just one goal in three appearances against Brentford.
- Seven of City’s nine goals in their opening three matches were scored by Haaland.
- In their opening three games, no Brentford player had more touches on the ball than Nathan Collins (193).
Prediction
Sat top of the table and already firing on all cylinders, Man City already look very difficult to beat especially after their ruthlessly clinical win at West Ham, so I am expecting more of the same here.
Brentford though have started the league campaign well with two wins from three but their starting run of away games hasn’t been ideal, yet the Bees were simply outclassed in end product at Liverpool last month.
I sadly can again see that being the case here but if they dig deep defensively like in their last two trips, they might just get lucky if City have an off day but I just don’t see that happening here.
Prediction: Manchester City 2-0 Brentford
Result: Manchester City 2-1 Brentford
