England host Finland in their second League B match of 2024-25 UEFA Nations League.
Victory could see England go top of the group if Greece fail to win in Ireland or they better the Greeks’ goal difference.
Finland can move off the foot of the table if can better Ireland’s result against Greece.
Team News
England have no fresh injury concerns to report after their win away to Republic of Ireland.
Captain, Harry Kane will earn his 100th senior international cap if he features in this match, with the forward set to start up front.
Finland have no fresh injury issues following their defeat away to Greece, but will be without winger, Daniel Hakans after he withdrew prior to that match.
When is Kick-Off?
England host Finland at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday 10 September at 7:45pm BST, live on ITV1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is England’s first Nations League meeting against Finland.
- Finland have lost all three previous trips to England in all competitions (L3).
- Two of England’s three home wins over Finland were by 2-1 results, although the Three Lions claimed a 5-0 win in October 1984.
- England have kept just one clean sheet in their last five matches in all competitions (W3, D1, L1).
- Finland have scored own-goals in each of their last two matches.
Prediction
Although I initially feared that we were in for more of Gareth Southgate’s backward passing play despite Lee Carsley’s interim arrival, England certainly looked more dynamic and clinical in their win over Ireland.
Finland meanwhile were simply not clinical enough in their loss to Greece despite giving them a decent fight, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more of the same but with better defensive play.
If that is the case then this game could be a tough test for England but after a tidy performance in Dublin, I fancy the Three Lions to take a routine win at home.
Prediction: England 2-0 Finland
Result: England 2-0 Finland
