Montenegro host Wales in their second League B match of 2024-25 UEFA Nations League.
Victory could see Montenegro go second in League B4 if Turkey draw with Iceland, whilst Wales can go top with a win if Iceland fail to beat Turkey.
Team News
Montenegro have no fresh injury concerns after their 2-0 loss away to Iceland, with Igor Vujacic, Edvin Kuc and Vasilije Adzic having withdrawn due to injury prior to that game.
Wales too have no fresh injury concerns after they drew 0-0 at home to Turkey.
When is Kick-Off?
Montenegro host Wales on Monday 8 September at Gradski Stadion, Niksic, at 7:45pm BST, live on 4SC in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Montenegro’s first Nations League meeting against Wales (W2, L1).
- Wales lost each of their two previous visits to Montenegro in all competitions (L2), by 2-1 result in August 2009 then 1-0 loss in September 2010.
- Out of their three previous meetings, two encounters finished in a 2-1 result to the team at home.
- Montenegro have lost two of their last three matches in all competitions by a 2-0 result.
- Three of Wales’ last four matches in all competitions have finished goalless.
Prediction
Sat bottom of League B4 in which they’re not expected to top, Montenegro know that this is a free hit especially if they can be more clinical in their shot conversion, which was sloppy yet costly against Iceland.
Wales though had similar issues in their end product but it is impossible to fault how firm they were in their attacking press, which certainly caused Turkey issues but now is a chance to polish and develop their game with those lessons.
In fact if they can do that and are tidier in finishing their shots, I fancy Wales to not just get their first win under Craig Bellamy but away to Montenegro too given their record in two previous trips.
Prediction: Montenegro 0-1 Wales
Result: Montenegro 1-2 Wales
