2024-25 League Two: Week Five – Doncaster vs Gillingham

Doncaster Rovers host Gillingham at Eco-Power Stadium in a stand-out League Two clash.

Victory could see Doncaster go top if Walsall, Barrow and Newport County all lose elsewhere, whilst Gillingham will stay top with a win.

Team News

Doncaster have no fresh injury concerns after their midweek EFL Trophy win at home to Huddersfield.

Gillingham will be without Euan Williams because the Northern Ireland youngster is away on international duty.

Max Ehmer is suspended for this game and is joined on the sidelines by; Tim Dieng (knee), Oli Hawkins (wrist), Conor Masterson (Achilles) and Jake Turner (ankle).

When is Kick-Off?

Doncaster host Gillingham at Eco-Power Stadium on Saturday 7 September at 3pm BST, live on Sky Sports + in the UK.

Prediction

Aside from defeat at Newport County, Doncaster have enjoyed a strong start to the league campaign attack wise but their defence is leaky, so I would like to see them try and find a way to cut out their defensive errors but still deliver up front.

Gillingham meanwhile enjoyed another strong start to the season but if they’re to challenge for promotion, they must show more consistency from now on compared to last season but they will face a difficult test here defensively.

Rovers also is bit of a hoodoo away trip for the Gills so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is openly competitive, but Gillingham probably need to score more than once here if want a result but a draw would be a decent outcome.

Prediction: Doncaster 1-1 Gillingham

Result: Doncaster 1-0 Gillingham
