2024-25 Sky Bet Championship: Week Four – Saturday

Burnley host Blackburn at Turf Moor in the first East Lancashire derby in 2024-25 Championship season. 

Separated by just one point coming into this game, victory would see Burnley or Blackburn go top ahead of the mid-afternoon kick-offs.

 

Team News

Josh Cullen and Luca Koleosho are doubts for Burnley after the pair missed the Clarets’ last two matches with knocks.

Jordan Beyer (thigh), Nathan Redmond (hamstring) and Aaron Ramsay (knee) remain sidelined.

Hannibal Mejbri and Jaidon Anthony are in contention for their club debuts.

Blackburn could be without Danny Batth and Harry Pickering after the pair suffered knocks in the Carabao Cup loss to Blackpool in midweek.

Lewis Baker and Owen Beck could make their debuts following loan moves from Stoke and Liverpool respectively.

Prediction

Having suffered consecutive away defeats at Sunderland then Wolves in league and Carabao Cup respectively, Burnley now must reset amidst the departures of some key players if want to continue their solid record in this derby.

Blackburn meanwhile will be keen to produce a reaction to blowing their lead against Blackpool in midweek, plus have started the season well despite their inability to keep a clean sheet so should feel confident coming to Turf Moor.

Burnley though will need to quickly rediscover their goalscoring spark after conceding three goals without reply in the last week, but I do expect Blackburn to certainly grind out a draw at minimum.
