Left-back, Ferdi Kadioglu has completed a £25.4m move to Brighton from Fenerbahce.
Kadioglu’s move came after his involvement in Turkey’s run to UEFA Euro 2024 Quarter-Final, which saw him impress at left-back but the 24 year-old’s versatility means that he can play in midfield and as a winger if needed.
Brighton subsequently spent recent weeks in negotiations with Fenerbahce over Kadioglu, with a £25.4m deal plus add-ons agreed, although the move was officially sanctioned following Valentin Barco’s loan switch to Sevilla.
Head Coach, Fabian Hürzeler said that he is “very excited” to sign “a great character” in Kadioglu, who he believes will bring extra quality and versatility to the team.
“I’m very excited because we are getting an excellent player and a great character. He has great ability, is a strong runner and very good at passing.
“He is predominantly a full-back and can play on the right or left side; he can also play in the centre of midfield.
“He is someone who is very keen to learn and develop, and with that in mind I’m confident he will adjust to the Premier League and adapt quickly to English football.”
Kadioglu began his career at Eredivisie’s NEC Nijmegen where he came through their academy, and delivered 12 goals in 70 appearances across two seasons despite NEC’s relegation to Eerste Divisie in summer 2017.
The Turkish international moved to Fenerbahce in July 2018 and has gone on to produce 18 goals and 16 assists in 204 appearances across seven seasons.
Kadioglu represented Netherlands at youth level but switched his senior allegiance to Turkey in January 2022, and made his debut in June of that year in the first of 20 caps in which he scored one international goal.
