Dutch hero, Max Verstappen enters this round with a 78-point lead over McLaren’s Lando Norris, yet Verstappen is on a four-race winless streak for the first time since 2020 and will seek to return to winning ways on home soil.
McLaren and Mercedes though are in resurgent form with victories in the last four races between them, in-turn setting up a potential thriller around Zandvoort with Ferrari also likely to be in the hunt.

Five Key Pointers
- Given the high-speed sweeping nature of the circuit, Zandvoort will require low downforce and top speed in order to maximise performance across a single lap.
- Having dominated F1’s last three visits to Zandvoort, Red Bull and Max Verstappen this time face a difficult test against a resurgent McLaren and Mercedes.
- As is traditional after the summer break, many teams will be expected to bring upgrades but some teams will of already switched focus to next season’s car and stopped adding upgrades.
- Rain showers are forecast for Saturday which should create challenging conditions, especially in the first and final sectors with banked corners.
- Avoiding traffic on outlaps after pit stops will be key to executing the undercut strategy, whilst pit stop timing could too be key if the Safety Car is deployed.

Verstappen recorded a ninth consecutive race victory at Zandvoort in 2023 amidst showers during the race, and a torrential shower caused a red flag on Lap 64 following a crash for Guanyu Zhou.
