Newly-promoted Leicester entertain Tottenham at the King Power Stadium to conclude opening weekend of 2024-25 Premier League season.

Leicester are returning to the top-flight after an one-season absence, whilst Tottenham will look to build upon their fifth-placed finish of last season.

When is Kick-Off?

Leicester host Tottenham at King Power Stadium on Monday 19 August 2024 at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Leicester have won one of their last five meetings against Tottenham (W1, L4).
  • Tottenham have won four of their last seven trips to Leicester (W4, L3).
  • Both teams have scored in six of their last seven meetings at the King Power Stadium, except for a 2-0 Tottenham win in December 2018.
  • Leicester have won four of their last five matches at home (W4, L1).
  • Tottenham kept just one clean sheet in pre-season (W4, L2).

Prediction

With Steve Cooper now in charge and no goals in their last three pre-season friendlies, I am slightly cautious about Leicester’s chances given that they have lost some key goalscorers for this game.

Tottenham meanwhile claimed just two wins in their last seven competitive matches but with fresh reinforcement, I do believe that they can fight for a top-four finish if they can sort out their defensive issues of pre-season.

I though do expect Spurs to win this game given Leicester’s issues and lack of central forward options, but the Foxes should at least give them a bit of a fight initially in their first game back in the top flight.

Prediction: Leicester 1-3 Tottenham

Result: Leicester 1-1 Tottenham
