Netherlands face England in a blockbuster semi-final at UEFA Euro 2024.
Victory would see Ronald Koeman’s Dutch achieve a sixth appearance in the Final of this competition, whilst England seek just their second appearance in an Euros Final.
Team News
Netherlands have no fresh injury or suspension concerns to report after their Quarter-Final comeback victory over Turkey, with a full squad in contention, although Wout Weghorst is pushing for a start.
England will welcome defender, Marc Guehi back from suspension which saw him miss their Quarter-Final win over Switzerland on penalties.
Harry Kane is also set to feature after he was substituted after he tumbled into the dugout following a foul from Manuel Akjani.
When is Kick-Off?
Netherlands face England at Westfalenstadion, Dortmund, on Wednesday 10 July at 9pm CEST (8pm UK Time), live on ITV1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Netherlands have won one of two previous meetings against England at the Euros (W1, L1).
- This is the first time that England will play Netherlands as the ‘away’ team in this competition.
- Both teams have scored in their last two meetings in this competition, with England scoring five goals on aggregate to the Netherlands’ four goals.
- Cody Gakpo has been involved in more goals than any other Dutch player at this tournament with involvements in four goals, in which he scored three goals and created one assist.
- No England player has produced more progressive carries at this tournament than Bukayo Saka (23).
Prediction
Although individual performances have been mixed with only Wout Weghorst and Cody Gakpo delivering strong performances, Netherlands are altogether a solid team with a strong attacking press which will be their best asset here – especially if on counter-attack.
England meanwhile looked more comfortable against Switzerland following their formation changes with a lot more attacking intensity, but they will need to step it up another gear if they want to reach the Final again and show better end product.
Either way both teams haven’t exactly delivered much wow quality with some fairly scrappy wins, so it would be rather apt if this is a tense slog which goes to penalties with England prevailing.
Prediction: Netherlands 1-1 England (England to win on penalties)
Result: Netherlands 1-2 England
