Czech Republic meet Turkey in a crucial Group F clash at UEFA Euro 2024 with a knockout spot at stake.
Anything other than a defeat would see Turkey qualify for the Round of 16 but they will finish third if they lose and Georgia fail to beat Portugal.
Czech Republic must simply win if they want to progress beyond this stage as a draw might not be enough to advance via the third-placed path.
Team News
Patrik Schick is a doubt for Czech Republic after he was substituted in their 1-1 draw against Georgia with a calf injury.
Turkey could welcome first-choice goalkeeper, Mert Gunok back after he missed their 3-0 loss to Portugal with a knee injury.
When is Kick-Off?
Czech Republic meet Turkey at Volksparkstadion, Hamburg, on Wednesday 26 June at 9pm CEST (8pm UK Time), live on ITV4 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Czech Republic have lost each of their two previous meetings against Turkey at UEFA European Championships (L2).
- Turkey kept one clean sheet in their two previous UEFA Euro meetings against Czech Republic, which came in a 2-0 win during their final group clash in Euro 2016.
- Including Qualifying, Czech Republic have lost each of their last two Euro meetings against Turkey by 2-0 result.
- Ladislav Krejci has completed more passes than any other Czech player in their last two matches (93).
- Only two of Orkun Kokcu’s six shots for Turkey at this tournament has been on target – albeit with nobody having produced more shots amongst his teammates.
Prediction
Despite their dominance against Georgia, Czech Republic simply lacked a cutting edge again which really needs to change if they’re to win here to stand any chance of reaching the Round of 16, whilst their defence must cut out the sloppy errors.
Turkey meanwhile were defensively outplayed by Portugal without even mentioning the silly own-goal that they conceded, but their attack is capable of delivering as we saw in their opening game against Georgia so if they can rediscover that spark then they could get a crucial goal.
This game therefore could be cagey but as it wears on, one goal could well be the difference but I can see the Czechs nicking it if they can just click and show more solidness at the back.
Prediction: Czech Republic 1-0 Turkey
Result: Czech Republic 1-2 Turkey
