2023-24 UEFA Europa Conference League Final Preview

Olympiacos face Fiorentina at Agia Sophia Stadium in 2023-24 UEFA Europa Conference League Final.

Victory would see Olympiacos claim their maiden European title in all UEFA competitions, whilst Fiorentina seek a second European title in 63 years – having previously won the 1960-61 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.

Olympiacos have no fresh injury concerns to report, although Nelson Abbey and Gelson Martins are ineligible after they were left out of the official squad list for this competition.

Fiorentina will be without forward, Riccardo Sottil after he suffered a broken collarbone during their semi-final first leg win over Club Brugge.

Prediction

After clinically demolishing Aston Villa in a series of smash-and-grab counter-attacks in their semi-final victory, Olympiacos have to be considered favourites given their dangerous attack and this will feel like a home game despite taking place 20 minutes away from their own stadium.

Fiorentina meanwhile will have the heartache of last year’s final defeat against West Ham to motivate them coming into this game, where they simply need to learn from Villa’s sloppiness and be absolutely clinical if want to win here and avoid getting hit at pace on counter-attacks.

This final though should be very close to call given that this is basically a home final for Olympiacos minus their home stadium, and if they are as ruthless as saw against Villa then they really could have the edge here.
