Defender, Esme Morgan has announced that she will leave Manchester City to sign for an unnamed club.

Morgan graduated through City’s academy and made her senior debut in the Cityzens’ opening-day victory over Yeovil in 2017-18 season, and has since gone on to score one goal in 85 appearances across all competitions.

During her time at the club, Morgan helped City win 2019-20 Women’s FA Cup and 2021-22 Women’s League Cup titles, although she scored one goal in the former competition whilst on loan at beaten finalists – Everton that season prior to the delay to later rounds due to the COVID pandemic.

Morgan took to X to thank City for allowing her ‘to live a dream’ of playing for her club in an open letter.

Morgan even explained her reasons for moving on as she felt that she needs to ‘develop and improve’ by taking a leap and ‘experience a new challenge out of the comfort of my home.’

During her time at Man City, Morgan earned eight international caps for England and was part of the squad to finish runners-up at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Morgan’s move is subject to international clearance and a work permit.
