Tottenham Hotspur meet title-chasing Manchester City in a blockbuster Premier League clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham will stay fifth regardless of the result but a draw or defeat would end their top-four ambition, whilst only a win would see Man City go top and put the title into their own hands going into the final day.
Team News
Yves Bissouma is ruled out for Tottenham after he suffered a knee injury during their comeback win over Burnley.
Richarlison (calf) missed that game and has too been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Fraser Forster (foot), Destiny Udogie (quad), Ben Davies (calf), Ryan Sessegnon, Timo Werner (both hamstring) and Manor Solomon (knee) remain absent
Man City are expected to have Jack Grealish available despite the winger suffering from illness during their 4-0 win at Fulham last weekend.
Nathan Ake (foot) is a doubt for selection.
When is Kick-Off?
Tottenham host Man City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a 8pm BST kick-off on Tuesday 14 May, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Tottenham are unbeaten in four of their last five league meetings against Man City (W3, D1, L1).
- Man City are winless in their last four visits to Tottenham at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium without scoring (L4).
- Spurs’ Son Heung-min has scored in four of his last five home appearances against Man City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
- Mickey van de Ven and Pedro Porro have both scored in two of Tottenham’s last three home matches.
- Josko Gvardiol has scored three goals in Man City’s last two away matches, during which the Cityzens scored six goals in total without conceding (W2).
Prediction
Although their top-four chances are still alive, Tottenham know that they have to grind out a draw at minimum but they must be more clinical than they were against Burnley – with defenders, Pedro Porro and Mickey van de Ven sparing their blushes in a sloppy performance.
On this occasion, Spurs will also have the entire North London behind them for once because anything other than defeat would see them put the title destiny in neighbours – Arsenal’s hands which is no bad thing if it ends City’s dominance at the summit come the end of the final day.
City meanwhile absolutely battered Fulham with relative ease despite an early scare so I will expect more of the same here, but they are yet to win a league game at Spurs’ new home but January’s FA Cup win there will inspire confidence that they can go and break the league duck.
On that note, I do expect a fierce battle but with two defeats in 11 league matches at home, Tottenham will be difficult to beat if they are defensively solid and I do fancy them to nick something here if they can step it up especially with the rare unity across North London.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Manchester City
Result: Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 Manchester City
