Roundup of the latest Premier League action as the battles for the title, European qualification and survival continued.
Bukayo Saka’s first-half penalty plus second-half goals from Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice saw Arsenal defeat Bournemouth 3-0 to stay top of the table.
Manchester City stayed one point behind in second following a dominant 5-1 win over Wolves, in which Erling Haaland scored four goals – including two penalties – and Julian Alvarez netted a fifth whilst Hwang Hee-Chan scored the Old Gold’s consolatory goal.
Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott all produced a goal and assist apiece to keep Liverpool’s faint title hopes alive with a 4-2 win over Tottenham, in which Andrew Robertson also scored before Richarlison and Son Heung-min netted consolatory goals for Spurs.
Aston Villa remain fourth following a narrow defeat at Brighton as Joao Pedro struck a 87th minute rebound winner for the Seagulls.
Down in the relegation zone, already relegated Sheffield United finished with ten men after Anel Ahmedhodzic was sent off in a 3-1 home loss to Nottingham Forest, as Callum Hudson-Odoi netted twice for the visitors either side of Ryan Yates’ effort whilst Ben Brereton Diaz got the Blades’ goal.
Dara O’Shea’s late header couldn’t save second-bottom Burnley from a 4-1 defeat at home to Newcastle, as Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak’s goals put Vincent Kompany’s Clarets on the brink of relegation.
Luton slipped three points adrift of safety after they battled to a comeback 1-1 draw against Everton at Kenilworth Road, during which Elijah Adebayo cancelled out Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s penalty.
Elsewhere, goals from Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson handed Chelsea a 2-0 home win over Tottenham before Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues thrashed West Ham 5-0 three days later – as Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher and Noni Madueke scored before Jackson produced a brace.
Crystal Palace completed their first Premier League seasonal double over Manchester United with a 4-0 win at Selhurst Park, as Michael Olise scored twice with Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell also on the scoresheet.
Finally, Brentford and Fulham shared a point apiece in a goalless West London derby at the Gtech Community Stadium.
