Emery Extends Villa Stay Until 2027

Unai Emery has signed an one-year contract extension to remain manager of Aston Villa until June 2027.

Emery previously signed a four-year contract until June 2026 when he replaced Steven Gerrard in Autumn 2022 with Villa sat 16th in the Premier League at time of his appointment.

The ex Villarreal manger proceeded to lead Villa to seventh place and qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League, plus the club went on a 17-match unbeaten league run at home.

This season has seen Emery’s Villa climb even further as they sit fourth in the League and are the last English men’s club left in Europe, having reached the Europa Conference League’s semi-finals – where they will face Olympiacos for a place in the Final.

His achievements consequently persuaded Villa to secure an one-year contract extension with the Spaniard, which means that Emery will remain in charge until June 2027.

Addressing his decision to remain with Villa, Emery commented: “We are enjoying our way together with Villa fans, the club owners, management and this great group of players that we are proud of.

“Me and the football management… we share the vision of the owners. Nassef [Sawiris] and Wes [Edens] are very supportive and respectful, and we have a good environment and the right structure to develop this football club.

“We must maintain the hard-working spirit, clever decisions and coordination with the ownership that we have found during this time. We will work to get better and better. And we will demand from each other. Ambition already is, and must always be, the motto of this project.”

Villa Chairman, Sawiris added: “We are thrilled and are building a sporting operation around Unai to support him with a view of returning Aston Villa, a co-founder of the English Football League as we prepare to celebrate our 150th anniversary, to its historic levels of greatness.”
