2023-24 Sky Bet Championship: Week 43 – Friday

Plymouth Argyle continue their fight for Championship survival against promotion-chasing Leicester City at Home Park.

Victory would lift Plymouth up to 16th in the table, whilst Leicester can stay top with a win before Ipswich play this weekend – due to their superior goal difference.

Plymouth have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 1-1 draw against QPR in midweek.

Leicester could welcome Kasey McAteer back following his recovery from a lengthy hamstring injury.

Harry Souttar (knock) remains sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Plymouth host Leicester at 8pm BST on Friday 12 April at Home Park, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Plymouth have claimed nine points in their last seven meetings against Leicester (W2, D3, L2).
  • Leicester are winless in their last 10 visits to Plymouth (D5, L5).
  • Plymouth have kept clean sheets in four of their last five home games against Leicester.
  • Plymouth have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 12 league matches at home (W3, D4, L5).
  • Leicester are winless in five of their last seven away matches in all competitions (W2, D1, L4).

Prediction

Currently two points above the relegation zone and having taken four points in two games since Ian Foster’s sacking, Plymouth will again need to be at their best defensively but still be clinical up front after narrowly scraping a draw against QPR.

Leicester meanwhile were lucky that Ipswich and Leeds also slipped up in midweek after a wasteful loss at Millwall, where they were the better team but lacked the creativity and end product to beat the Lions’ defence which ultimately saw them punished.

We also are now at the business end of the season where every point matters so I do expect Plymouth to try and sit deep inviting Leicester to attack, but given the Foxes’ recent hoodoo at Home Park and away rut I can see them needing to score first otherwise Plymouth might nick a draw.

Prediction: Plymouth 1-1 Leicester

Result: Plymouth 1-0 Leicester
