2023-24 UEFA Champions League Round of 16: Second Leg – Manchester City vs Copenhagen

Manchester City host Copenhagen at Etihad Stadium in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie in 2023-24 UEFA Champions League.

Holding a 3-1 aggregate lead from the first leg, victory, draw or a 1-0 loss would be enough for reigning champions – Man City to advance to the Quarter-Finals.

Copenhagen meanwhile must simply win by a 3-0 result at minimum to advance if not a larger goal margin if City should score, although a 2-0 win would force extra time.

Prediction

With a two-goal aggregate lead from the first leg, Man City can afford to relax a little but if they play the first half like they did against Man Utd with wasteful finishing and a conceded goal, I can see them in a slight bit of trouble at half-time but this team has the quality to get out of trouble if can just up their intensity and composure.

Copenhagen meanwhile didn’t play too badly in their home leg despite being outplayed but defensive errors proved costly and has left them with a mountain to climb, which means that a quick start and the first goal is crucial to their chances of causing an upset here.

I however can’t see past one outcome because City are just in unstoppable form despite their defensive fragilities, which could be Copenhagen’s hope of nicking a consolatory goal.

Prediction: Manchester City 3-0 Copenhagen

Result: Manchester City 3-1 Copenhagen (Man City win 6-2 on aggregate)
