Brentford continue their fight for Premier Legue survival against leaders, Liverpool at Gtech Community Stadium.
Victory would see Brentford move up to 13th before Bournemouth play in mid-afternoon, whilst Liverpool will stay top with a win.
Team News
Frank Onyeka and Yoane Wissa are set to return for Brentford after they missed the Bees’ last six matches through international duty for Nigeria and DR Congo respectively.
Aaron Hickey (hamstring), Josh Dasilva, Rico Henry (both knee), Kevin Schade (adductor) and Bryan Mbeumo (ankle) remain absent.
Liverpool could welcome defender, Connor Bradley back into contention after he missed their last two matches for personal reasons, although Trent Alexander-Arnold is ruled out with a knee injury meaning that Bradley will seamlessly return to the right-back position.
Ibrahima Konate could also feature after he was suspended for the Reds’ home win over Burnley, whilst Alisson (illness) and Mohamed Salah (hamstring) could return.
Ben Doak (knee), Konstantinos Tsimikas (shoulder), Joel Matip (ACL), Thiago Alcantara (muscle), Stefan Bajcetic (calf) and Dominik Szoboszlai (hamstring) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Brentford face Liverpool at Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday 17 February at 12:30pm GMT, live on TNT Sport 1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Brentford have won one of their last five league meetings against Liverpool (W1, D1, L3).
- Liverpool are winless in two previous Premier League visits to Brentford (D1, L1).
- Thomas Frank’s Bees have scored three goals in each of their two previous Premier League matches at home to Liverpool.
- Brentford have scored first in four of their last five league matches, except for a comeback 3-2 home win over Nottingham Forest in January 2024.
- Liverpool have won just one of their four league visits to London-based clubs this season (W1, D1, L2).
Prediction
Currently six points clear of the relegation zone following their clinical win at Wolves, Brentford now need to take heart from that clinical performance and build upon that display here where their defending has to be brilliant alongside Mark Flekken who has found confidence in goal lately.
Liverpool though are a tough team to beat although Jurgen Klopp should be relieved that their aerial ability proved enough to beat Burnley with three headed goals, because their open-play end product was pretty disappointing so improvement is needed here.
Add in their poor away record to teams based in the capital and recent difficulties specifically at the Bees, this could well be a tough scrap for Liverpool but Bradley and Salah’s returns should inspire them to a first Premier League away win over Brentford.
Prediction: Brentford 1-2 Liverpool
Result: Brentford 1-4 Liverpool
