Roundup of latest Sky Bet Championship action as the battles for promotion, play-offs and survival continued to deliver surprises.

Patson Daka’s 11th minute penalty and Ricardo Pereira’s 55th minute strike saw Leicester win 2-1 at Watford to stay top, despite Emmanuel Dennis’ consolatory goal for the Hornets in the second half.

Late goals from Sekou Mara and Samuel Edozie saw Southampton stay second with a dramatic 5-3 hom win over Huddersfield, having fell 2-0 down at half-time only to fight back through Joe Rothwell’s brace before Alex Matos put the Terriers back ahead prior to Tom Lees’ equalising own-goal.

Patrick Bamford’s controversial opening goal and Crysencio Summerville’s brace saw third-placed Leeds thrash rock-bottom Rotherham 3-0 at Elland Road.

Fourth-placed Ipswich fought back twice through Nathan Broadhead and Omari Hutchinson to snatch a 2-2 draw at home to fifth-placd West Brom, after Tom Fellows and John Swift put the Baggies ahead twice.

Haji Wright’s brace saw Coventry move up to sixth with a comback 2-1 win at home to Millwall, after Romain Esse had put the Lions ahead at half-time.

Second-half goals from Pierre Ekwah, Jack Clarke and Jobe Bellingham saw Sunderland round out the top seven with a comeback 3-1 victory at home to Plymouth, having fell behind to Ryan Hardie’s strike just before half-time.

Down in the relegation zone, Ike Ugbo’s brace saw second-bottom Sheffield Wednesday beat Birmingham City 2-0 at Hillsborough.

Michael Frey rescued third-bottom QPR a 2-2 draw at home to Norwich after Jack Colback had initially put the Hoops ahead, only for Kenny McLean and Josh Sargent to turn the game around for the visiting Canaries until Frey’s 77th minute strike.

Stoke now sit three points above the bottom three after Nial Ennis’ consolatory strike couldn’t prevent a 3-1 loss at his former club – Blackburn, who had built an initial 3-0 lead through Tyrhys Dolan’s brace and Sammie Szmodics’ header.

Elsewhere, Hull dropped out of the top six with a narrow home defeat to Swansea as Liam Cullen scored a 11th minute winner for the Swans.

First-half goals from Emil Riis Jakobsen and Ben Whiteman saw Preston win 2-0 away at Cardiff to boost their play-off dreams.

Finally, quick-fire goals from Jason Knight and Matty James saw Bristol City win 2-1 at Middlesbrough, despite Samuel Silvera’s injury-time effort for the hosts.
