Alpine have unveiled the A524 car which will be driven by Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon in the 2024 F1 season.
In a joint launch which also saw Alpine’s World Endurance Championship car unveiled, Alpine unveiled their new A524 car which has a predominant black livery across the front nose and engine cover in a change from it’s sky blue color of the A523 car last year.
BWT logo once again ajoins the sidepods and rear wing, whilst there is an accent of sky blue on the top and tip of the front nose, plus back of engine cover.
Amongst technical changes, the Energy Recovery system has moved towards the rear end of the car whilst the rear suspension has been revised following a tough 2023 season.
There is also a pink-dominated livery which will be used at eight of the 24 races scheduled on the F1 calendar this season.
Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon have returned as drivers for a second season as teammates, whilst Jack Doohan will continue in his reserve driver role but on a full-time basis rather than alongside F2 commitments after he left the series at the end of last season.
Explaining the approach behind the A524 design, Technical Director, Matt Harman commented: “The A524 approach has been aggressive but deliberate in the fact we are creating a wider scope to add performance to the car,” with focus on learnings of last season’s data.
“The project has been bold where we have focused on realising concepts, which we aim to add to the car. We’ve built ourselves a strong platform to add performance when we can and we have set ourselves targets to deliver those.”
“We have pushed some elements to the limit and, in some cases, beyond that. That is all in line with our approach and exactly what we have set out to achieve in progressing this project to the best possible level.”
Alpine will hand the A524 a shakedown on 20 February ahead of the pre-season test from 21-23 February, with the new season set to commence on Thursday 29 February – with the opening two races held Thursday – Saturday due to Ramadan starting on Sunday 10 March.
