2023-24 FA Cup: Fourth Round Replay – Plymouth vs Leeds

Plymouth Argyle meet Leeds United at Home Park in their Fourth Round replay in 2023-24 FA Cup.

Victory would see Plymouth or Leeds visit the winner of Aston Villa’s replay against Chelsea in the Fifth Round.

Lino Sousa is unavailable for Plymouth after the Aston Villa loanee wasn’t registered for the original tie.

Loanee, Darko Gyabi is ineligible to face his parent club whilst Alfie Devine is cup-tied after he featured for Port Vale earlier in the competition.

Leeds will be without Connor Roberts after he wasn’t registered for the original tie at Elland Road.

Jamie Shackleton (illness) is a doubt but Karl Darlow (thumb), Dan James (adductor), Pascal Struijk (foot) and Stuart Dallas (thigh) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Plymouth host Leeds at Home Park in a 7:45pm GMT kick-off on Tuesday 6 February, live on BBC1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • This is Plymouth’s first FA Cup tie against Leeds to go to a replay, but they are yet to beat Leeds in two previous FA Cup meetings (D1, L1).
  • This is Leeds’s first away trip to Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup.
  • Both teams have scored in each of their two previous FA Cup meetings.
  • Plymouth have won two of their last five FA Cup replays played at home (W2, L3).
  • Leeds have won three of their last five FA Cup replays which were played away from home (W3, L2).

Prediction

With just one defeat in their last 11 matches in all competitions and a fearsome goalscoring record at home, Plymouth are a team which can’t be underestimated espcially after they kept a rare clean sheet at Swansea last Saturday in a clinical well-executed performance.

Leeds meanwhile were certainly made to work for their scrappy win at Bristol City because for all of their dominance, they did struggle to convert their chances which has to be better here if want a shot at the win because of Plymouth’s goalscoring form at home.

I frankly would be surprised if this finishes goalless and given that Leeds will have one eye on their Yorkshire derby against Rotherham on Saturday, I wouldn’t be surprised if Plymouth spring a slight surprise.

Prediction: Plymouth 2-1 Leeds

Result: Plymouth 1-4 Leeds
