2023-24 Sky Bet Championship: Week 29 – Leeds vs Norwich

Leeds United entertain Norwich City at Elland Road in a rearranged Championship clash.

Leeds will stay fourth regardless of the result but victory would move them to within one point of third-placed Southampton, whilst Norwich can climb to sixth with a win.

Leeds have no fresh injury concerns to report after their comeback victory at home to Preston last Sunday (21 January).

Karl Darlow (thumb), Wilfried Gnonto (hip), Pascal Struijk (adductor) and Stuart Dallas (thigh) remain absent.

Norwich have no fresh injury concerns to report after their win over West Brom last weekend.

Danny Batth remains absent with a hamstring injury suffered during their comeback Third Round replay win at Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup last week.

When is Kick-Off?

Leeds host Norwich at Elland Road on Wednesday 24 January at 7:45pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Leeds are unbeaten in seven of their last nine meetings against Norwich (W6, D1, L2).
  • Norwich have avoided defeat in three of their last five league visits to Leeds (W2, D1, L2).
  • Both teams have scored in four of their last five meetings in all competitions.
  • Daniel James has scored eight goals in six of his last eight home appearances for Leeds.
  • Norwich have lost two of their last three away games in the Championship by a 1-0 result (W1, L2).

Prediction

Currently five points adrift of second-placed Ipswich, Leeds know that this is a must-win if want to close that gap down and boost their automatic promotion hopes, although they were slightly lucky to beat Preston despite their dominance after a sluggish start.

Norwich meanwhile were simply clinical against West Brom with two well-executed goals but their away form has dipped with one win in their last four away trips in the second-tier, but hopefully that win over the Baggies will motivate them to try and upset another promotion challenger.

Daniel Farke though is expected to not make many changes here with squad rotation instead planned for their FA Cup tie at the weekend, so I do expect them to get something but Norwich really should be capable of snatching a draw if play like they did last weekend.

Prediction: Leeds 1-1 Norwich

Result: Leeds 1-0 Norwich
