USA defender, Emily Fox has joined Arsenal from North Carolina Courage for an undisclosed fee.

Fox’s move to Arsenal marks the first time that the 25 year-old defender will play outside of America, having previously played for Racing Louisville prior to her move to North Carolina Courage in January 2023.

“It feels amazing to have signed here,” commented Fox on her move to North London as she spoke of Arsenal’s high reputation in women’s football.

When I think of Arsenal, I think of excellence, I think of a global organisation, I think of family. I think of pushing the standards of football and especially in the women’s game.

“It’s a huge honour to get the opportunity to represent this club and I’m excited to get started and play in front of our supporters.”

Arsenal Women’s Head Coach, Jonas Eidevall added: “We’re delighted to bring Emily to Arsenal and I’m sure our supporters will join me in welcoming her to our club.

“Emily has shown impressive development over recent seasons and her strengths in both phases will make her an important addition to our squad.

“At international level, the experience she’s built up gives her an excellent foundation to make the transition to English football.”

Arsenal’s Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley described Fox as “an experienced international defender and we are very pleased to have added her to our squad.”

Wheatley also iterated that Fox is a player who can adapt to life at Arsenal and help the club fight for domestic success, as she continued: “Having spent time tracking Emily’s career to date, we believe she has all the tools to integrate into the environment here at Arsenal and make a big contribution to us achieving our goals.”

Fox will wear the number 2 shirt at Arsenal and has joined the rest of the squad in Portugal for a mid-season training camp.

Fox has won 39 international caps for USA since she made her senior debut in 2018, and was part of the 2022 CONCACAF Women’s Championship winning squad plus their SheBelieves Cup winning squads in 22 and 2023.
