Laurens Van Hoepen has joined ART Grand Prix for the 2024 F3 season.

Van Hoepens will step up to F3 next year with ART GP after he finished tenth with the French team in 2023 Formula Regional Championship by Alpine (FRECA), during which he claimed two podium finishes after he only managed 15 points in his rookie season in 2022 with ART GP.

Speaking about his decision to move up to F3 after two seasons in FRECA, Van Hoepens said: “I am very happy to make it to FIA F3 with ART Grand Prix.

“This will be my third year of working with the team and during this time we have gotten to know each other well as our winter tests have shown which have been very positive. Next year will be exciting and I am convinced that ART Grand Prix and I can do a good job.”

ART GP Team Principal, Sebastien Philippe added that the 18 year-old Dutch driver has been a “combative” driver in “a difficult” season for the team.

Philippe also looked ahead to next season with no pressure placed upon Van Hoepen as explained: “During his first tests in F3, he quickly found his feet and developed a good relationship with the engineers.

“His qualities as a driver and fighter will be invaluable in a complex championship that leaves nothing to chance.”

Van Hoepen has won multiple titles in karting including the X30 Mini class at the 2017 IAME Euro Series, and finished third in his debut single-seater series in 2021, as he competed in Challenge Monoplace F3 Regional of the Ultimate Cup Series.

Confirmation of Van Hoepen’s teammates will be announced in due course.

Van Hoepen isn’t the only driver to announce their F3 drive for next season after Mari Boya announced that he had switched from MP Motorsport to Campos for 2024.
