Barnet have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 4-0 home win over Maidstone United in the Third Round of the 2023-24 FA Trophy last weekend.

Newport also have no fresh injury concerns following their 2-1 loss at Tranmere last weekend.

Barnet host Newport at The Hive in a 7:45pm GMT kick-off on Tuesday 12 December, live on ITV4 in the UK.

 

Stat Attack

• Barnet have won one of three previous FA Cup meetings against Newport (W1, D1, L1).
• Newport have won one of their two previous FA Cup visits to Barnet (W1, L1), which came in a 1-0 win in December 2015 – having beforehand lost 6-1 here in November 1970.
• Barnet are yet to keep a clean sheet against Newport in the FA Cup.
• Barnet have won three of their last six FA Cup replays (W3, L3).
• Newport have won four of their last six FA Cup replays (W4, L2).

 

Prediction

Having won just one of their four home games with no clean sheets prior to their win over Maidstone, Barnet certainly should come into this game believing that they can win this replay if can stay defensively solid but show the same energy as seen at Newport a week-and-a-half ago.

Newport meanwhile will need to show more consistency after a tough defeat at Tranmere because they played well in the first half to take the lead with positive attacking play, yet failed to produce the same quality in the second half as their defence conceded two sloppy goals.

The first goal therefore will be key because if Barnet get in front early on, they should have enough if can keep it tight at the back otherwise this will go to extra time or penalties, whilst Newport surely should make their extra quality count if they can play consistently over 90 minutes.

My instinct is that this will be tight but if there is a winner without a penalty shootout, I can see Barnet nicking it.
