2023-24 UEFA Europa League: Group Stage – Liverpool vs LASK

Liverpool host LASK at Anfield in Group E of 2023-24 UEFA Europa League.

Victory would see Liverpool secure qualification and can win the group if Toulouse fail to win elsewhere, whilst LASK can move up to third with a win if Union Saint-Gilloise fail to beat Toulouse.

Alisson and Diogo Jota are ruled out for Liverpool after they suffered muscle injuries during the Reds’ 1-1 draw at Manchester City last weekend.

Andrew Robertson (shoulder), Stefan Bajcetic (calf) and Thiago Alcantara (hip) remain absent.

LASK have no fresh injury concerns to report as Ebrima Darboe (knee), Philipp Wiesinger (unspecified), Adil Taoui and Tobias Anselm (both ACL) are ruled out.

Prediction

Having battled to a lacklustre 1-1 draw at Man City with a late clinical equaliser despite decent play amidst sloppy first-half defending, Liverpool will be glad to be back at home where they have been incredibly dominant with a chance to seal a knockout spot.

LASK meanwhile have lost both away games in the group but having taken the lead at home to Liverpool, they shouldn’t have much fear although their defence will have to be perfect to keep the hosts quiet such is Liverpool’s home form.

In fact, I think that it would take something incredible for Liverpool to lose this game even without Alisson and Jota, but LASK hopefully will give them a decent game.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 LASK

Result: Liverpool 4-0 LASK
