2023-24 UEFA Europa Conference League: Group Stage – Aston Villa vs Legia Warsaw

Aston Villa host Legia Warsaw at Villa Park in a top of Group E showdown in 2023-24 UEFA Europa Conference League.

Locked on nine points apiece and separated by only head-to-head points, victory would see either Villa or Legia Warsaw move top and guarantee qualification for the knockout stages.

Nicolo Zaniolo is set to feature for Aston Villa after he missed their league win at Tottenham for fitness reasons, following his return from international duty for Italy.

Boubacar Kamara is available for selection because his one-match ban only applies to domestic matches.

Tyrone Mings (knee), Bertrand Traore (muscle) and Emiliano Buendia (ACL) remain ruled out.

Legia Warsaw could make tactical changes from their win over Zrinjski Mostar with Yuri Ribeiro and Patryk Kun both one booking away from suspension for their final group match at home to AZ Alkmaar.

Prediction

Having moved into the top four in the Premier League with a clinical comeback win at Tottenham last weekend, Villa will come into this game full of confidence and belief compared to their away loss to Legia Warsaw in September.

Like Villa, Legia Warsaw has no pressure coming into this pivotal top of the group clash which will surely determine who wins this group come a fortnight’s time, but have drawn their last two games which will motivate them to come and get a win.

Villa Park though has been a fearsome fortress with one loss in ten matches this season and with the Villains in strong form, I don’t see them letting up against Legia but this clash should be quite the battle if it is anything like the clash in Poland.

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-1 Legia Warsaw

Result: Aston Villa 2-1 Legia Warsaw
