Jak Crawford has switched from Hitech GP to DAMS for 2024 F2 season.
Crawford graduated to F2 from F3 this season alongside fellow Red Bull junior, Isack Hadjar as teammates at Hitech GP and finished 13th in the standings – just two points ahead of Hadjar in a campaign which saw he take victory in the Austrian Sprint plus four further podium finishes.
The 18 year-old American also took his first F2 pole position for the Dutch Feature Race, which led to his final podium appearance of the season as he finished third in the race.
Crawford though has switched to DAMS for next season which will mark his first season since 2019 without Red Bull’s support.
Speaking about his decision to move to DAMS, a “very excited” Crawford commented; “I believe the team is the best place for me to be for the coming season to get the most out of myself as a driver in my second season of Formula 2.”
Crawford also praised DAMS for their attitude towards chasing success as seen with Ayumu Iwasa’s fourth-placed championship finish this season, as he explained: “I’ve been impressed by the work ethic and achievements of the squad.
“I believe that together, we can achieve strong results in next year’s campaign. Our goal for next year is to make the absolute most of every race weekend. I’m looking forward to joining up with DAMS in the post-season test to begin working with them ahead of next season.”
DAMS’ Team Owner and ex F1 driver, Charles Pic added that the team are “… delighted to have such a young talent in Jak driving for us next season.”
Pic also believes that Crawford is ready to push forward after a promising rookie campaign, as he continued: “He has already demonstrated his ability and dedication throughout his career, and showed he is ready to compete at the front in F2 with his victory and podiums this year.
“We’re excited to work with him during post-season testing at Abu Dhabi and to deliver a strong 2024 campaign together.”
