2023-24 Sky Bet Championship: Week 12 – Friday

Rotherham United host Ipswich Town at New York Stadium as the Championship resumes, following October’s international break.

Victory would lift Rothern up to 22nd in the table, whilst Ipswich can go top with a win until Saturday afternoon.

Hakem Odoffin is set to return for Rotherham after he recovered from a hamstring injury, which had sidelined him in recent weeks.

Sean Morrison (calf) and Grant Hall (hip) are doubts but Camron Humphreys, Tyler Blackett (both hamstring) and Jamie Lindsay (Achilles) remain absent.

Ipswich will be without Wes Burns after the winger suffered a shoulder injury whilst on international duty in Wales’ friendly win over Gibraltar.

Freddie Ladapo will also be sidelined with an Achilles injury suffered during training.

When is Kick-Off?

Rotherham host Ipswich at New York Stadium in a 8pm BST kick-off on Friday 20 October, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Prediction

Sat in the relegation zone and winless in six matches with just three goals scored in that period, Rotherham need to start finding their goalscoring boots again because this squad has goals in them but just aren’t finding those gears to convert their chances.

Matt Taylor’s Millers however do deserve credit for defensively riding their luck at Southampton last time out, in a game where they could of been thrashed yet they somehow snatched a draw which has to be a platform to build upon here.

Ipswich though are the league’s top goalscoring team which has been surprisingly positive for a promoted club, especially given how they defeated Preston in a clinical display despite their defensive vulnerabilities once again proving an issue.

This clash though should be one which Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys should easily win if they can hit their strides quickly, and that might just be the best way to end their away rut in this fixture given their superior form in contrast to Rotherham.

Prediction: Rotherham 0-2 Ipswich

Result: Rotherham P-P Ipswich
