UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers: Matchweek Seven Roundup

Roundup of the latest action in matchweek seven of UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifying. 

This match week saw three teams secure qualification whilst multiple countries guaranteed themselves a play-off spot, with Scotland, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland amongst various teams in action across the ten groups.

 

Group A

Scotland missed their chance to secure qualification with a 2-0 loss at second-placed Spain, as late goals from Alvaro Morata and Oihan Sancet handed the hosts a controversial win.

Erling Haaland’s brace plus goals from Alexander Sørloth and Fredrik Aursnes saw Norway defeat Cyprus 4-0 to keep their qualification hopes alive.

 

Group B

Kylian Mbappe’s brace saw France stay top of Group B and secure qualification with a 2-1 away win against the Netherlands, despite Quilindschy Hartman’s late consolatory goal for the Dutch.

First half goals from Giorgos Giakoumakis and Georgios Masouras saw Greece defeat Republic of Ireland 2-0 to go second.

 

Group C

Domenico Berardi’s brace coupled with goals from Giacomo Bonaventura and Davide Frattesi saw Italy stay second with a 4-0 home win over Malta.

Heorhiy Sudakov and Oleksandr Karavayev netted for Ukraine in a 2-0 victory at home to North Macedonia, in a boost for their qualification hopes.

 

Group D

Baris Yilmaz’s 30th minute winner saw Turkey defeat Croatia in Osijek to move top of Group D.

Janis Ikaunieks and Daniels Balodis’ goals handed Latvia a 2-0 home win over Armenia.

 

Group E

Taulant Seferi’s brace and Jasir Asani’s ninth minute effort fired Albania to a group-topping 3-0 win over Czech Republic.

Sebastian Szymanski and Adam Buksa struck in a 2-0 away win for Poland against Faroe Islands, which lifted the Polish into second.

 

Group F

Dodi Lukebakio’s brace and Romelu Lukaku’s goal secured qualification for Belgium with a 3-2 win away to Austria, despite the hosts’ futile attempts at a late comeback with goals from Konrad Laimer and Marcel Sabitzer.

First half goals from Toral Bayramov and Ramil Sheydayev saw Azerbaijan clinch their first win of the campaign away to Estonia.

 

Group G

Roland Sallai netted a 34th minute winner for Group H leaders, Hungary in a 2-1 home win over Serbia, after Barnabas Varga’s opening goal was cancelled out by Strahinja Pavlovic.

Pijus Sivys’ brace saw Lithuania beat rock-bottom Bulgaria 2-0 in Sofia.

 

Group H

Benjamin Sesko’s brace and Erik Janza’s injury-time goal saw Slovenia defeat Finland 3-0 to move top of Group H on goal difference.

Denmark sit second with a 3-1 win over Kazakhstan in Copenhagen as Robert Skov netted twice after Jonas Wind’s opening goal, before Yan Vorogovsky scored a consolatory goal for the visitors.

Paul Smyth, Josh Magennis and Conor McMenamin all netted for Northern Ireland in a 3-0 win over rock-bottom San Marino, in a clash between Group H’s two bottom teams.

 

Group I

Group I’s leaders, Switzerland weren’t in action after their trip to Israel was postponed due to an ongoing political conflict involving the hosts.

Romania remained second with a goalless draw away to Belarus.

Milot Rashica struck twice for Kosovo in a 3-0 away win at Andorra which was wrapped up with Altin Zeqiri’s goal in the 83rd minute.

 

Group J

Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace saw Portugal prevail 3-2 against Slovakia to wrap up qualification and top spot in Group J.

Gerson Rodrigues cancelled out Orri Oskarsson’s effort as Luxembourg came from behind to draw 1-1 away against Iceland.

Amar Rahmanovic and Miroslav Stevanovic netted in the first half as Bosnia & Herzegovina won 2-0 away to Liechtenstein.
