Roundup of the August Bank Holiday action as just one team remain unbeaten in 2023-24 Sky Bet Championhip.

Kasey McAteer’s brace saw Leicester move top of the table with a 2-1 win away at Rotherham, despite Fred Onyedinma equalising for the Millers early in the second-half.

Jonathan Rowe netted his fifth goal in five games whilst Adam Idah provided a goal and assist as Norwich crushed second-bottom Huddersfield 4-0 to go second, with Josh Sargent and Ashley Barnes also on the scoresheet for the Canaries.

Jay Stanfield’s injury-time volley saw Birmingham City climb to third with a 2-1 home win against Plymouth, in which Scott Hogan’s first goal since February was cancelled out by Ryan Hardie’s equaliser.

Ryan Manning provided a brace of assists as he set up Samiel Edozie’s opening goal and Adam Armstrong’s winner in Southampton’s 2-1 win over QPR at St Mary’s Stadium, with Jack Colback having netted the Hoops’ consolatory goal.

Comeback goals from Andrew Hughes and Duane Holmes saw Preston fight back to beat Swansea 2-1 at Deepdale, after Harrison Ashby had put the Swans ahead in the first-half.

Ipswich round out the top six as their winning start came to an end in a 4-3 home loss to Leeds, after the Whites had fought back from Joe Rodon’s own-goal to take victory courtesy of Georginio Rutter, Wilfried Gnonto, Joel Piroe and Luis Sinisterra.

Down in the relegation zone, Sheffield Wednesday remain without a win after Ryan Wintle’s injury-time penalty handed Cardiff a 2-1 home win, after Ike Ugbo’s opening goal had been cancelled out by Barry Bannan’s 20-yard equaliser for the Owls.

Jeremy Sarmiento’s 91st minute winner saw West Brom defeat ten-men Middlesbrough 4-2 in a six-goal thriller at The Hawthorns, during which Boro’s Tommy Smith was red carded for a second bookable offence in the 51st minute.

Elsewhere, Kevin Nisbet struck a 38th minute as Gary Rowett’s Millwall scraped a home victory against his former team – Stoke City.

Ozan Tufan scored his fourth goal of the season as Hull were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Bristol City, after Nakhi Wells poked in from Jason Knight’s cross to equalise for the visiting Robins in the 62nd minute.

Ryan Hedges netted a 72nd minute winner as Blackburn ended their their six-match winless away streak against Watford with a 1-0 win at Vicarage Road.

Finally, Coventry were held to a goalless draw at home against Sunderland.
