2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup: Group Stage – Day 15 Preview

Preview for day 15 of 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup as Group H brings the entire Group Stage to a climax.

Group H leaders, Colombia enter this match knowing that a point would see them through as Group H winners, in-turn setting up an exciting Round of 16 tie.

Germany meanwhile know that they will advance if they can match or better Morocco’s result against Colombia, whilst Morocco must win and hope that Germany lose elsewhere if they’re to advance.

South Korea must take victory and hope that Morocco lose to Colombia in order to stand any chance of an unlikely qualification for the knockout stages.

Group H – Morocco vs Colombia

Having clinically scraped past South Korea to get their first Women’s World Cup win under their belts, Morocco certainly can come into this game full of confidence but their attack will need to be on top form to break down a organised yet disciplined Colombian defensive press.

Colombia meanwhile know that a point would see them through as group winners and after delivering two effective performances, I do fancy them to come out and get that win to ensure that they top the group if can deliver their counter-attacking quality once more.

Morocco though should provide a tough test inside the box so I do expect this to be close with Colombia advancing, whilst the Lionesses of Atlas will need Germany to lose elsewhere in order to progress.

Prediction: Morocco 1-1 Colombia

Group H – South Korea vs Germany

With two ineffective performances and no goals to show from their opening two matches, South Korea now need to deliver a huge performance if want to finish on a high because no shots on target from 16 shots against Colombia is unacceptable.

There will also be a feeling of deja vu here in one sense because their male counterparts in 2018 also entered their final group match against Germany without any points, yet they somehow managed to scrap their way to victory to deny the Germans a knockout spot on that occasion.

This Germany team though are a different beast to their male counterparts of five years ago but they will need to be more clinical than they were against Colombia, whilst their defending also needs to be more tighter because their quality just dropped compared to their win over Morocco.

Now if Germany turn up and deliver another wasteful performance, I do fancy South Korea to try and cause some trouble but I just don’t see Germany blowing this chance after the amount of shocks already at this tournament.

Prediction: South Korea 1-2 Germany
