England and Republic of Ireland have been handed tricky groups at 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Sarina Wiegman’s England have been placed in Group D where they will face Denmark, China and the Play-Off Path C – which will be Chile, Senegal or Haiti – in a tricky group for the reigning European champions.
Republic of Ireland who are making their first appearance in a major women’s tournament were drawn into Group B., alongside co-hosts Australia, Nigeria and Canada.
Reigning champions, USA will start their title defence in Group E which will feature a blockbuster replay of 2019 Final against Netherlands, either side of matches against Vietnam and the winner of Play-Off Path A which will be one of Portugal, Cameroon or Thailand.
Co-hosts, New Zealand have been drawn into Group A where they will take on Norway in the opening match on 20 July, before playing Philippines and Switzerland in Wellington and Dunedin on 25 and 30 July respectively.
Two-time champions, Germany are in Group H where they will take on Morocco, Colombia and Korea Republic.
2019 hosts, France are in Group F where they will face Jamaica, Brazil and the winner of Play-Off Path C who will be one of Chinese Taipei, Paraguay, Papa New Guinea or Panama.
Spain – containing two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas – will play Costa Rica, Zambia and Japan in Group C.
Three-time third-placed finishers, Sweden will meet South Africa, Italy and Argentina in Group G.
Teams in Group A, C, E & G will play their group matches in New Zealand, whilst teams in Group B, D, F & H respectively will play their group matches in Australia, in order to help minimise travel disruption in the Group Stage.
The tournament will run from 20 July to 20 August 2023, with the Final held at Stadium Australia, Sydney.
