Brazil midfielder, Willian has signed a new one-year contract at Fulham, with option for a further year.

Willian joined Fulham as a free agent on an one-year contract in September 2022 upon leaving Brazil’s Corinthians a month earlier, and went on to produce five goals and assists apiece in 30 appearances for the Cottagers who finished 10th in last season’s Premier League.

The 34 year-old Brazilian however has been a free agent since 30 June but after considering bids from Nottingham Forest plus Saudi Arabian clubs, he opted to sign a new one-year contract to stay at Craven Cottage until June 2024, with option to further extend the contract by a further 12 months until June 2025.

Speaking about his decision to return to Fulham after exploring his options, Willian told FFCtv: “I’m completely happy. Happy to sign one more year with Fulham.

“Happy to continue the work that I did last season with all my teammates and the whole Club. I think it’s a club that can do even better this season, so I’m happy to continue this amazing adventure.”

Fulham’s Vice-Chairman and Director of Football Operations, Tony Khan added: “I’m thrilled that Willian will return to Fulham for at least one more season!

“He was a very important addition last summer and was a significant contributor during one of the most successful Premier League campaigns our club has ever had.

“We’re all very excited that he’ll return to Craven Cottage as we aim for another successful season in the Premier League together! Come on Fulham!”

This season will mark Willian’s 10th campaign as a Premier League player after he spent seven seasons at Chelsea in which he scored 63 goals in 339 appearances between August 2013-2020 during which he won five titles, before he joined Arsenal for one season where he only managed one goal in 37 outings across all competitions.
