Middlesbrough goalkeeper, Sol Brynn has joined Leyton Orient on a season-long loan.

Orient’s move for Brynn comes just weeks after Lawrence Vigouroux opted to leave for Burnley and marks Brynn’s fourth loan move of his career, having previously played for Darlington, Queen of the South and Swindon Town in the last three seasons.

Speaking about his decision to join League One’s Orient and play at his highest level yet in English Football, Brynn commented: “I’m delighted to be here, it’s been a long time coming and I’m buzzing it’s finally completed.”

Brynn added that he had twice faced Orient with Swindon last season in League Two and described his new club – who were promoted at end of last season – as “unbelievable,” and made him want “to be a part of it.”

The 22 year-old also iterated that he is “always looking to test” himself, as he went on to describe himself as “a shot-stopper” who loves to make saves.

Orient’s Goalkeeping Coach, Simon Royce is “delighted” to welcome Brynn to the club, having been “chasing” the 22 year-old for a period of time.

Royce went on to praise Brynn for his “fantastic” performances in a below-par Swindon team which finished tenth last season, as he added: “Sol’s stats were at the top end of the division for goalkeepers, and he was always our number one target.”

Brynn has spent the past week-and-a-half training with Middlesbrough in Portugal so Royce is confident that he is “fit and ready and we can’t wait to see him in action.”

Brynn meanwhile acknowledged the reputations of Royce and Richie Wellens as he quipped: “I’ve heard a lot about Roycey and how good of a goalkeeping coach and a bloke that he is, and the gaffer’s record speaks for himself.”

Brynn is Orient’s second goalkeeping signing of this summer’s transfer window after Sam Howes joined last week from Wealdstone.

Brynn’s competitive debut for Orient could come away at Charlton on 5 August whilst his home bow at Brisbane Road could come a week later against Portsmouth.
