Arsenal have announced that more fixtures involving their women’s team will be played at Emirates Stadium next season.

This season has seen Arsenal Women play eight matches in total at the Emirates Stadium, of which just three were Women’s Super League (WSL) fixtures compared to five UEFA Women’s Champions League matches.

Club officials have consequently confirmed that there will be a further two WSL matches played at the Emirates Stadium next season, taking their total number of WSL fixtures at the club’s main stadium to five games for next season.

Across their three WSL clashes this seasons against Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea at the Emirates, Arsenal amassed a total attendance of 134,852 spectators whilst their home clash against Spurs saw over 53,000 tickets sold with a record crowd of 47,367 fans in attendance.

Results in those three WSL fixtures however were mixed as the Gunners hammered Tottenham 4-0 in September but lost 3-2 to Man Utd two months, then drew 1-1 against Chelsea in January.

Arsenal also played all five of their Women’s Champions League home fixtures from the Group Stage onwards at the Emirates this season, with 101,070 spectators in total across those games during which a sell-out crowd of 60,063 witnessed their semi-final exit to Wolfsburg in May.

Club officials have consequently confirmed that should Arsenal again qualify for the Women’s Champions League, their home games will again be played at the Emirates Stadium from Group Stage onwards next season.

Arsenal CEO, Vinai Venkaresham explained that the club are “delighted” to increase the number of women’s fixtures being played at the Emirates Stadium next season, following “fantastic support” throughout this season.

Venkaresham proceeded to praise fans for their support at both the Emirates Stadium and Boreham Wood’s Meadow Park, as he added: “It’s wonderful to see the support for the team at Emirates Stadium, Meadow Park and on the road week in, week out.

“This latest announcement ensures that as many supporters as possible can enjoy the matchday experience with us, as we continue to support the sustainable growth of women’s football.”

Arsenal will confirm season ticket details in due course but iterated that five-game packages will be available to supporters, enabling fans to secure their seat for all five WSL fixtures at the Emirates next season.
