2022-23 Premier League: Week 34 – Liverpool vs Tottenham

Liverpool meet Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield in a pivotal clash in the race for a top-four finish.

Victory could see Liverpool climb to fifth if Aston Villa lose elsewhere in the mid-afternoon kick-off, whilst Tottenham could begin this match in sixth position looking to reclaim fifth with a win or draw.

Ibrahima Konate could return for Liverpool after he missed their midweek win at West Ham due to a knock.

Diogo Jota (back) is a doubt but Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino (both muscle), Calvin Ramsay (knee) and Stefan Bajcetic (adductor) remain absent.

Tottenham have no fresh injury concerns to report as Hugo Lloris (muscle), Emerson Royal (knee), Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), Rodrigo Bentancur (ACL), and Yves Bissouma (ankle) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Liverpool face Tottenham at 4:30pm on Sunday 30 April at Anfield, live on Sky Sports in UK.

Prediction

Facing the prospect of being at least seven points if not more off the top-four come kick-off, Liverpool have to treat this game like a cup final if they’re to keep their faint Champions League qualification hopes alive.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds though can’t afford to be wasteful on the attack like they were at West Ham in midweek despite their impressive play and pressing, which proved key to their comeback in East London because any sloppiness won’t be as easily forgiven as it was in midweek.

Tottenham meanwhile were a team of two halves against Man Utd because they were outclassed in the first half after their humiliation at Newcastle last weekend, yet they found spirit and confidence in the second half to fight back with two comeback goals.

I however do feel that being at home helped them but Anfield will be a different test of Spurs’ mentality because Liverpool are in hot form, and I do fancy them to get the win if they’re at their best and can target Tottenham’s fragile defence with their fierce press.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham

Result: Liverpool 4-3 Tottenham
