Besiktas have signed left-back, Arthur Masuaku on a permanent transfer from West Ham.

Masuaku joined the Turkish club on a season-long loan last summer and has scored twice in 27 appearances, which has led Besiktas to sign him on a permanent transfer for £1.8 million.

In a club statement confirming Masuaku’s departure, West Ham commented: “West Ham United can confirm that Arthur Masuaku has completed a permanent transfer to Turkish Süper Lig side Beşiktaş J.K.

“Masuaku initially joined Beşiktaş on a season-long loan from the Hammers in August and has featured 27 times in all competitions for the Turkish team, scoring twice.

“The DR Congo international moved to West Ham from Greek side Olympiacos in 2016 and made 128 appearances in all competitions for the Irons, including 105 in the Premier League.

“Masuaku scored two goals during his time in Claret and Blue, netting in a 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Bolton Wanderers and the winner in a 3-2 Premier League victory versus Chelsea in December 2021.

“Everyone at West Ham United would like to thank Arthur for his efforts with the Club and wish him well for his future career.”

Masuaku has signed a two-year contract which will see him play for Besiktas until end of 2024-25 season, which officially brought his time as a West Ham player to an end – having first joined in 2016 from Olympiacos.

The 29 year-old began his career with Valenciennes FC in France, where he scored one goal in 29 senior appearances after he graduated through their youth academy, having previously played for RC Lens at youth level.

Masuaku’s final appearance in a West Ham shirt came in a 3-1 Premier League defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur in March 2022, in which he started before being substituted in the 55th minute.
