2022-23 Sky Bet Championship: Week 34 – Monday

Swansea City welcome Rotherham United to the Swansea.com Stadium in Monday Night Football in the Sky Bet Championship.

Victory would see Swansea reclaim 12th in the table, whilst Rotherham can move up to 18th with a win and eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Luke Cundle (pictured) and Jay Fulton could return for Swansea after the pair missed the Swans’ defeat to Stoke with knocks.

Swansea manager, Russell Martin has no other fresh injury concerns to report.

Rotherham will be without loanee, Grant Hall after he suffered a hamstring injury during last Tuesday’s 2-1 home win over Sunderland.

Sean Morrison (quad) and Ben Wiles (ankle) both remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Swansea host Rotherham at Swansea.com Stadium in a 8pm GMT kick-off on Monday 27 February, live on Sky Sports in UK.

Stat Attack

  • Swansea have lost just one of their last five meetings against Rotherham (W3, D1, L1).
  • Rotherham have won just one of their last five league visits to Swansea (W1, D2, L2).
  • Swansea have won two of their last three home matches against Rotherham in all competitions by 1-0 result, except for a 4-3 win in April 2019.
  • Ryan Manning has been booked in each of Swansea’s last two home matches.
  • Rotherham are winless in their last seven league matches away from home (D3, L4).

Prediction

Swansea’s on-pitch performance feels like a team of two halves because their attack has been strong this season, yet their defending has often been their downfall with just one clean sheet in their last 14 matches which is frustrating given their overall potential to be more in the play-off mix.

Rotherham’s biggest issue under Matty Taylor meanwhile has been consistency because whilst survival is the main priority, defensive mistakes have often been their Achilles heel whilst their goalscoring form has also dipped since returning from the World Cup break.

The Millers’ away form has also been pretty poor under Taylor aside from wins at Stoke and Sheffield United, but after stunning Sunderland last week at home, this game is a chance to build some fresh momentum if can target Swansea’s vulnerable defence.

Defence therefore feels like it will be decisive in the outcome of this match because neither team are defensively solid, so I do expect goals but Rotherham’s away form at Swansea isn’t the best so the Swans might edge this if it doesn’t finish in a draw.

Prediction: Swansea 1-1 Rotherham

Result: Swansea 1-1 Rotherham
