Ferrari have unveiled their new SF-23 car to compete in 2023 F1 season.

Having finished second in last season’s constructor standings behind Red Bull, Ferrari have retained Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz who will be behind the wheel of the SF-23 car this season.

Ferrari though will have a new Team Principal in place as Frederic Vasseur moves across from Alfa Romeo following Mattia Binotto’s departure at end of 2022.

Vasseur was present at the SF-23 launch in Maranello, Italy, where he iterated that Ferrari are commencing “a new journey for the project,” following Binotto’s exit but admitted that it is “a great feeling” to begin pre-season like when you are “back at school.”

Offering his thoughts on the new car, Vasseur said: “I can feel that everybody is very proud of the job done and this feeling is very important for the motivation of everybody and for the season. It will be a quite long season, but the motivation is there and it’s crucial in terms of performance.”

As is tradition, Ferrari have retained their red livery but this time with more dominance compared to last season, which saw a black colour scheme used across the bottom half of sidepods.

Leclerc finished as vice-champion last season behind Max Verstappen but has admitted that he is eager for more success, as he commented: “The goal is to win clearly! I mean the feeling of winning is what motivates me , motivates all of the team too.”

Sainz meanwhile is looking to be more competitive after he claimed his maiden F1 victory at Silverstone last season, yet joked that he expects Leclerc to be even quicker as he quipped: “I will always try to be faster but he will always try to be faster.”

Ferrari also conducted a shakedown at Fiorano Circuit following the SF-23 unveiling, with Leclerc first to get behind the wheel followed by Sainz.
