Roundup of latest Sky Bet Championship action as teams continued to battle over promotion and relegation. 

Nathan Tella’s hat-trick saw league leaders, Burnley continue to march towards promotion with their ninth straight league win, as the Clarets thrashed Preston 3-0 at Turf Moor.

Goals from Sander Berge, Jack Robinson and Oli McBurnie saw second-placed Sheffield United hammer Swansea 3-0 at Bramall Lane.

Cameron Archer and Riley McGree secured third-placed Middlesbrough a 3-1 victory away at Cardiff, after Marcus Forss’ opener had been cancelled out by Sory Kaba’s equaliser.

Matty Godden’s penalty in first-half injury-time saw Coventry fight back at home to hold fourth-placed Luton to a 1-1 draw, despite the hosts finishing with ten men after Josh Wilson-Esbrand was red carded for fouling Fred Onyedinma.

Duncan Watmore and Oliver Burke’s goals fired Millwall up to fifth in a 2-1 win away at London rivals, QPR who netted a 82nd minute consolatory goal courtesy of Chris Martin on his debut for the Hoops.

Watford round out the top six after Wesley Hoedt’s volley rescued the Hornets a 1-1 draw at home to Blackburn, after the visitors had taken a first-half lead through Bradley Dack.

Down in the relegation zone, Wigan climbed off the foot of the table with a late header from Jack Whatmough to leapfrog Huddersfield, as the Terriers slid to second-bottom in their first game after Mark Fotheringham’s sacking in midweek.

Blackpool meanwhile dropped to rock-bottom after they were held to a goalless draw at home by Rotherham.

Elsewhere, Sunderland rebounded from their midweek FA Cup heartbreak with Patrick Roberts’ clinical 84th minute winner to beat Reading, which saw Tony Mowbray’s Black Cats climb to seventh.

Bristol City extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to nine matches as Mark Sykes netted a 24th minute winner against Norwich.

Hannibal Mejbri produced a 10th minute goal from a free-kick and assisted Krystian Bielik’s first goal for Birmingham City, as the Blues comfortably defeated West Brom 2-0 at St Andrew’s in the West Midlands derby.

Finally, Stoke held Hull to a goalless draw at the BET365 Stadium.
