2022-23 Sky Bet Championship: Week 30 – Tuesday

Blackpool welcome Huddersfield to Bloomfield Road in a relegation six-pointer in 2022-23 Sky Bet Championship.

Victory by three goals or more would lift Blackpool out of the relegation zone, whilst Huddersfield will climb out of the bottom three with a win.

Team News

James Husband could return for Blackpool after he missed their defeat at Middlesbrough on Saturday with a hamstring injury.

Liam Bridcutt (Achilles) and Lewis Fiorini (hamstring) are doubts but Jordan Gabriel (knee), Keshi Anderson (thigh), Marvin Ekpiteta, Luke Garbutt (both hamstring) and Kevin Anderson (foot) remain absent.

Huddersfield could be without Michail Helik after the defender suffered a knee injury during their 1-1 draw at home to QPR on Saturday.

Lee Nicholls (shoulder), Yuta Nakayama (Achilles), Ben Jackson (quad), Tino Anjorin (ankle), Pat Jones, Danny Ward (both hamstring) and Duane Holmes (calf) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Blackpool meet Huddersfield at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday 7 February in a 7:45pm GMT kick-off untelevised in UK, after their original meeting on 21 January was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Stat Attack

  • Blackpool have won just one of their last five meetings against Huddersfield (W1, D1, L3).
  • Huddersfield have won two of their last five league visits to Blackpool (W2, D1, L2).
  • Blackpool have conceded three goals in two of their last four home games against Huddersfield.
  • Mick McCarthy’s Tangerines have failed to score in three of their last five league matches at home.
  • Duane Holmes has been yellow carded in two of Huddersfield’s last three league games away from home.

Prediction

Having defensively rode their luck for much of first and last half-hour periods of Saturday’s heavy loss at Middlesbrough amidst wasteful finishing, Blackpool simply have to be totally better across the pitch here if they’re to stand any chance of victory.

Huddersfield meanwhile will feel frustrated by their draw against QPR because they did play well with excellent periods of intensity, yet lacked much end product to their chances despite being largely outplayed which will be where they need to improve here.

On that note, I can’t help but feel that if the Terriers can just find that final touch, they should have enough to snatch the win because Ekpiteta and Anderson are huge losses for Blackpool at the moment.

Prediction: Blackpool 0-1 Huddersfield

Result: Blackpool 2-2 Huddersfield
