BBC and ITV have announced their UK broadcast picks for semi-finals 2022 FIFA World Cup.

BBC have first pick of the semi-final matches and have opted to broadcast the concluding semi-final between England’s conquerors, France as the defending champions look to avoid a cupset against Morocco after the African team stunned Portugal and Spain in the knockouts.

The semi-final meeting between France and Morocco will take place at Al Bayt Stadium on Wednesday 14 December with a 10pm AST local time kick-off, which will be broadcast live on BBC One in the UK with the match commencing at 7pm GMT.

In three previous matches aired on BBC in the UK this tournament, Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus have claimed wins over Australia and Poland either side of a shock defeat in their final Group D match against Tunisia.

Morocco meanwhile have triumphed in their two appearances on BBC across this tournament, as they claimed shock wins over Belgium and Canada in their last two group matches to top Group F.

ITV have consequently been handed a mouth-watering encounter between two-time champions, Argentina and 2018 runners-up, Croatia on Tuesday 13 December at Lusail Iconic Stadium, which kicks off at 10pm AST (7pm GMT UK Time).

In two previous appearances on ITV this tournament, Argentina endured mixed results as they suffered a shock opening Group C defeat to Saudi Arabia then beat Mexico 2-0 en route to topping the group, from which they beat Poland, Australia and Netherlands to reach the last four albeit live on BBC.

Croatia meanwhile have only featured in just one match broadcast live on ITV across the World Cup, in which they held Morocco to a goalless draw in their opening Group F match.

Both broadcasters will jointly broadcast live coverage of the Final on Sunday 18 December at Lusail Iconic Stadium with kick-off at 6pm AST (3pm UK Time), whilst BBC will air the Third-Place play-off 24 hours earlier on Saturday 17 December at Khalifa International Stadium.
