ITV and BBC Announce Round Of 16 Broadcast Picks At 2022 FIFA World Cup

ITV and BBC have announced their broadcast picks for the Round of 16 at 2022 FIFA World Cup. 

ITV who hold first pick for Round of 16 and Quarter-Finals stages, have opted for England’s clash against Senegal on Sunday 4 December as their first pick, with kick-off confirmed for 7pm GMT UK Time) live on ITV1.

South Korea’s reward for eliminating Uruguay and Ghana to qualify as Group H’s runners-up is a tie against Brazil on Monday 5 December, which will be televised live on ITV1 with kick-off at 7pm GMT.

ITV will also broadcast the concluding two ties of the Round of 16 on Tuesday 6 December, kicking off with Morocco’s clash against Spain at 3pm GMT, before Portugal face Switzerland in a 7pm kick-off to determine the Quarter-Finals line-up.

BBC have picked up a double-header to kick-start their coverage of the knockout stages on Saturday 3 December, as Netherlands face a tricky tie against USA at 3pm GMT UK Time in the opening tie of the Round of 16 stage.

The winner of that tie will meet Argentina or Australia in the Quarter-Finals, with BBC also broadcasting that match exclusively live on BBC One from 6:20pm UK Time with 40 minute build-up ahead of the 7pm GMT kick-off.

BBC will also broadcast Poland’s all-European tie against reigning champions, France on Sunday 4 December in a 3pm GMT kick-off, as well as Japan’s encounter against 2018 runners-up, Croatia 24 hours later on 5 December.

ITV held the first two picks for this round with BBC having third pick followed by ITV utilising fourth pick, before BBC played the fifth and sixth overall picks prior to ITV having the penultimate pick ahead of BBC who were left with the weakest overall tie to broadcast.
