2022-23 Premier League: Week 11 – Leicester vs Leeds

Leicester City welcome Leeds United to King Power Stadium in the second of a Thursday Night Football double-header.

At least one point would lift Leicester off the foot of the table, whilst Leeds can move seven points clear of the rock-bottom Foxes with a win.

James Maddison is suspended for Leicester after he collected his fifth booking of the season in their goalless draw against Crystal Palace.

Caglar Soyuncu (knee) is a doubt but Wilfried Ndidi (hamstring), Jonny Evans (calf), Ryan Bertrand (knee) and Ricardo Pereira (Achilles) remain absent.

Leeds have no fresh injury concerns to report after their defeat against Arsenal as Leo Fuhr (illness), Archie Gray (toe), Adam Forshaw (ankle) and Stuart Dallas (thigh) are still sidelined.

Stat Attack

Prediction

Although a goalless draw against Palace might feel deflating, Leicester can take heart from their most solid defensive display this season on top of excellent attacking intensity in their build-up play, which was only let down by a mixture of inaccurate finishing and great Palace defending.

Leeds meanwhile were again excellent in their attacking press and intensity plus dug in with interceptions against Arsenal, yet a poor backpass cross proved their undoing alongside an awful penalty by Patrick Bamford plus various VAR decisions against them.

With the latter point in mind, I do expect Leeds to come out fighting with their strong attack which I expect to ask serious questions of Leicester’s defence across the entire match, so a resolute Foxes backline coupled with clinical attacking will be crucial otherwise I can see an away win coming.

Prediction: Leicester 0-1 Leeds

Result: Leicester 2-0 Leeds
