Norwich City welcome Luton Town to Carrow Road in a huge midweek Sky Bet Championship clash.
Victory would see Norwich go top of the table for 24 hours at minimum, whereas Luton can go third with a win if Blackburn and Reading both lose elsewhere.
Team News
Todd Cantwell could start for Norwich after he returned from a quad injury with a late substitute appearance in their defeat at Watford on Saturday.
Andrew Omobamidele however is ruled out after suffering an ankle injury at Vicarage Road.
Jacob Sorensen, Dimitris Gianoullis (both ankle), Isaac Hayden, Adam Idah (both knee) and Sam McCallum (foot) remain absent.
Luton could again be without Gabriel Osho after he missed their last two matches with an unspecified injury.
Reece Burke (hamstring) and James Shea (knee) both remain ruled out.
Stat Attack
- Norwich have won four of six previous Championship meetings against Luton (W4, L2).
- Luton have failed to win in three Championship visits to Norwich (L3).
- Norwich have scored three goals in each of their last two league matches at home to Luton, winning 3-2 in August 2006 then 3-0 in March 2021.
- Six of Josh Sargent’s eight league goals this season for Norwich have been scored at home.
- All seven of Luton’s away goals this season have been scored by seven different goalscorers, including an own goal from Hull’s Alfie Jones in late September.
Prediction
Following a pair of surprise defeats against Preston then Watford, Norwich certainly come into this match with a point to prove because they were unusually wasteful with their attacks on Saturday amidst poor defending for their two conceded goals.
Luton meanwhile are unbeaten in their last six matches and having beaten a serious promotion contender in QPR on Saturday, Nathan Jones’ Hatters can believe that they could spring another surprise if they continue to play with an excellent pressing attack with clinical finishing.
This fixture though comes amidst a hectic run of games between now and mid-November so I do expect squad rotation, although momentum does seem to be with Luton at present but this certainly won’t be an easy game if Norwich can sort out their mini-defensive slump.
Prediction: Norwich 1-1 Luton
