2022-23 Premier League: Week Seven – Tottenham vs Leicester

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Leicester City to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a tasty Premier League encounter.

Should Manchester City fail to win at Wolves in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off, Tottenham can go top until Sunday afternoon with victory.

Leicester meanwhile can move off the foot of the table with a win if Nottingham Forest lose on Friday evening at home to Fulham.

Tottenham have no fresh injury concerns to report after Tuesday’s Champions League loss at Sporting Lisbon, as Lucas Moura remains absent with a tendon injury.

Leicester could be without Dennis Praet as he struggles to recover from a foot injury.

Ryan Bertrand (knee) and Ricardo Pereira (Achilles) both remain absent.

Prediction

Having delivered a wasteful performance in midweek with poor finishing and a late slip in defensive focus away to Sporting Lisbon, Tottenham now need to produce a strong reaction because their performances do seem to be inconsistent so it’s tough to predict what to expect here.

Leicester meanwhile have had nearly a fortnight off to reflect on an atrocious defensive performance in their defeat at Brighton, as it is clear that their attack is still strong but a mixture of awful defending and sloppy passing play seem to be their biggest weaknesses at present.

Antonio Conte’s Spurs will therefore surely be eager to target Leicester’s midfield because if they do that and trigger fast-flowing attacks against a shaky defence, I can see a comfortable home win but Leicester’s attack should have enough to cause some issues of their own at the other end.

Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Leicester

Result: Tottenham 6-2 Leicester
