2022-23 Premier League: Week Four – Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur

Nottingham Forest welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the City Ground in the second of a Super Sunday double-header.

Victory could see Forest climb into the top seven depending on results elsewhere, whilst Spurs can go third with a win.

Dean Henderson and Harry Toffolo are amongst 11 players looking for a recall to the starting line-up, after Forest manager – Steve Cooper opted to rest his entire starting line-up from their draw at Everton last weekend in a midweek Carabao Cup win at Grimsby Town.

Jack Colback (illness) and Morgan Gibbs-White (knock) are doubts but Moussa Niakhate (thigh) and Omar Richards (leg) remain absent.

Tottenham have no fresh injury concerns to report as Oliver Skipp (foot) and Cristian Romero (muscle) remain ruled out.

Stat Attack

  • Forest have lost just three of 10 previous Premier League meetings against Tottenham (W6, D1, L3).
  • Tottenham have won just one of five previous Premier League visits to Forest (W1, D1, L3).
  • Ben Davies, Eric Dier and Harry Kane are the only players from Tottenham’s last meeting against Forest to remain at the club – having featured in squad for 3-1 League Cup win in September 2014.
  • Neco Williams has produced more shots on target than any other Forest player in their opening three league matches, with the right-back having put three shots on target.
  • Kane has converted two of his five shots on target for Spurs this season into goals.

Prediction

Having weathered a fierce Everton attack last week with fantastic goalkeeping from Dean Henderson but been caught out by a late long ball, Forest can take heart from their growing confidence in attack amidst finishing issues which were clinical at Grimsby in midweek.

Tottenham though also have work to do because their win against Wolves last weekend was pretty lucky, having struggled defensively to handle their attacking intensity and fast pressing on and off ball, whilst lacking quality in their own attack except from set pieces.

On that note, I can see an interesting clash if neither team improve their game but if Forest can sort out their issues in front of goal and Henderson can trouble Spurs’ attack, a home win could be a decent bet given their form in this league fixture especially if the home crowd push the team on.

I however can’t see Spurs making this easy by any stretch so a draw might be a fair result if Henderson can frustrate Tottenham, whilst Forest take their own chances.

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Result: Nottingham Forest 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur
