Campos have announced that Oliver Goethe will replace injured Hunter Yeany in the 2022 Hungarian round of the F3 season.

Yeany suffered a wrist injury during the Austrian Sprint Race earlier this month, which initially forced him to miss the Feature Race that weekend but has now ruled him out of Hungary across 29-31 July as well.

The American has therefore been replaced for the sixth round by Goethe who currently is the EuroFormula championship leader, ahead of Christian Mansell who had been linked with the seat prior to Goethe’s announcement.

Speaking about his opportunity to step up to F3, Goethe said: “I am very happy to be able to make my FIA Formula 3 debut with Campos Racing.

“I can’t wait to get in the car and get the best out of it. It will be a great experience and I look forward to making the most of it.”

Goethe makes the step up following a strong consistent start to his 2022 season in which he has clinched top-three finishes in 12 of the 14 EuroFormula races held so far, whilst he finished fourth in each of the two races he failed to make the podium.

The Dane also drove in 2022 F3 Asian Championship earlier this season where he only managed to score one point, which came in the penultimate race of the campaign as he finished 25th in the driver standings.

Goethe last year raced in Formula Regional European Championship for MP Motorsport where he only scored three points, having scored one win and five further podiums for the Dutch team in 2020 Spanish F4 a year after he made his single-seater debut in that series.

Campos also issued the following statement concerning Yeany whilst also looking ahead to their trip to Hungary: “Likewise, Campos Racing wants to wish Hunter a speedy recovery and predicts a good debut for Oliver in what will surely be a promising and productive weekend.
