James Justin and Jarrod Bowen have received maiden call-ups for England’s four UEFA Nations League fixtures in June 2022.

Justin previously played at youth level for England but has earned this call-up after impressing for Leicester this season, despite managing just 19 first-team appearances throughout the campaign.

Bowen meanwhile has impressed for West Ham all season with 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions, with the 25 year-old only missing out on a maiden call-up in March due to injury.

In goal, Sam Johnstone has been snubbed following his decision to depart West Bromwich Albion with Aaron Ramsdale instead returning to the squad, having missed March’s friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast due to a muscle injury.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James both return in defence after recovering from respective hamstring and muscle injuries, as Tyrick Mitchell, Tyrone Mings, Luke Shaw and Kyle Walker-Peters are snubbed.

Fikayo Tomori, Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker meanwhile return after being left out of the squad in March.

In midfield, Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson is the only snub as Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips is recalled after he was ruled out in March through injury.

Up front, Emile Smith Rowe and Ollie Watkins have both been dropped as Gareth Southgate trimmed his forward selection, with Bowen the only replacement forward brought up.

England will kick off their UEFA Nations League campaign away to Hungary on Saturday 4 June (5pm BST), before visiting Germany three days later on Tuesday 7 June in a 7:45pm BST kick-off.

Southgate’s Three Lions then host Italy and Hungary at Molineux on Saturday 11 and Tuesday 14 June, with both matches kicking off at 7:45pm BST.
